Health Surveillance is a key component of ongoing, systematic and proactive health and wellbeing (at work) for many organisations, especially those whose employees are potentially put at risk by their working environment.
Health Surveillance is a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, COSHH and a number of other regulations covering specific hazards including lead, asbestos, noise and vibration.
HSE will launch a new health surveillance website on 14 March 2013 to coincide with an occupational disease conference at the British Library, London on Thursday 14th March 2013.The aim of the new website is to ‘demystify’ the existing health surveillance requirements against the background of a significant burden of occupational ill health. Corporate Health fully supports this HSE initiative; the website will help employers be more aware of their responsibilities and also offer easy to digest information.
